Gentilissimi amici,
FOR THE CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION EACCME-UEMS.

Pathologic conditions related to stress and homeostasis has been described since 1911 from W.B. Cannon. Later on, Hans Seyle (1936) proposed the general adaptation syndrome that examined actions and consequences of environmental, physical, and psychological stressors on the healthy organism.
The general idea is that each organism has the ability to manage stress successfully. The failure to do so (in cases of excessive or continued stress) can lead to pathologies related to stress (stress syndromes) like anxiety disorders, depression syndrome, fatigue syndrome, sleep disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, allergies, idiopathic pain disorders like fibromyalgia, TMJ syndrome, chronic pelvic pain, chronic headaches, chronic tinnitus, interstitial cystitis, autoimmune disorders etc (Chrousos 1999, 2002).
Hypertension, diabetes, peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome, bronchial asthma and many skin disorders are some of the most common disorders made worse by stress together with altered mood, motor, autonomic and neuroendocrine dysfunction (Diatchenko et al, 2006).
Today we use two scientific terms to describe the endogenous forces responsible for maintaining the internal stability and proper function of an organism during an acute or chronic stress condition: The homeostasis (Cannon 1911, Seyle 1936, McEwen and Wingfield 2003, McEwen 2002) and the allostasis (Sterling and Eyer 1988). Homeostasis regulates set points in the body in response to slowly evolving environmental changes in the context of daily fluctuations such as temperature, glucose or oxygen in the blood and blood pH (Robyn Klein 2006).The Allostatic mechanism responds to unexpected challenges in order to adapt to stress beyond everyday life homeostasis such as severe temperature drop or sudden reaction to an accident or exposure to a pathogen. The theory of allostasis provides to scientists an explanation for how exposure to unexpected or severe stressors, can result in wear and tear on tissues and organs, leading to a wide range of pathological conditions.
Regulation of stress response involves two body systems: The hypothalamus – pituitary – adrenal axis (HPA axis) and the central and peripheral components of autonomic nervous system. According to Chrousos (2004), the central components of the stress system are located 1) in the hypothalamus and the brain stem and include the corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH) and arginine – vasopressin (AVP) neurons, and 2) in the locus coeruleus (LC) and other catecholaminergic cell groups of the medulla and pons, parts of central sympathetic system. The peripheral limps of the HPA axis together with the efferent sympathetic/adrenomedullary system represent the peripheral components (Pavlovsky & Friedman, 2007).
Stress Response System interact with endocrine system (reproductive
, growth and thyroid axis), immune system (can influence inflammatory reactions), the mesocorticolimbic dopaminergic system (reward system), the amygdale/hypocampus complex (fear, learning and memory), the arcuate nucleus proopiomelanocortin (POMC), the thermoregulatory center and the appetite-satiety regulation center. All these systems can modify the activity of the stress response system and fine-tunes the adaptive (homeostatic or allostatic) response of an organism. Chronic hyper activation of the stress system leads to chronic stress syndrome, with prolonged production of CRH and circulatory, endocrine, psychiatric, metabolic and immune dysfunction (Chrousos 1992, 2004).
Hypothalamus is the principal regulator of autonomic function in the CNS and it is through the hypothalamus that the limbic system and the neocortex influence autonomic functions. Hypothalamus regulates autonomic function through an neuroanatomical way (control descending pathways to the autonomic centers of brain stem and spinal cord) and a neurohumoral way (production and release of neurohormones like oxytocin and vasopressin by the magnocellular neurosecretory system and the regulation of the adenohypophysis via the production and release of hypothalamic hypophysiotropic hormones (HHHs) by the parvocellular secretory system).
It is generally believed today, that the therapeutic (and partly analgesic) effect of auricular acupuncture (to relieve and treat various inflammatory diseases and functional disturbances) is related with its ability to regulate SAM and HPA axis (Jeoung-Woo Kangk, 2004). There are reports suggesting that vagal points activates HPA axis and release catecholamines and/or glucocorticoids, the final effectors of the HPA axis with potent anti-inflammatory properties (Liao et al, 1979, 1981). Was also reported that with acupuncture and auricular acupuncture modulate SAM axis and the secretion rate of catecholamines (substances with anti-inflammatory properties through β - adrenoreceptor activation) from adrenal medulla, influencing sympathetic activity due to trauma of the needle (Mori et al 2000, Sato at al 1996). On the other hand, other reports that examined the parasympathetic, long term effect of acupuncture in humans and animals, do not show such important effect on HPA axis (ACTH and cortisole levels), failing to verify the existence or not of this specific neural pathway of action of acupuncture. Furthermore, there is debate regarding the specificity of acupuncture points (or areas) and how much specific the affect is.
From our medical view, the stimulation of peripheral nerves (acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, acupressure, moxa, laser, E/A etc) modulates the neural activity in the diencephalon who, in turn, influences autonomic, endocrine and immune functions through the SAM and HPA axis, regulating the circadian release of CA/CRH/AVP/ACTH and cortisol. This may be a nonspecific effect of needling and is independent from the point selection and the technique.
In the present workshop we will describe the current research related with stress, psychosomatic symptoms and auricular acupuncture. We will try a psycho-neuro-immunologic approach, with emphasis in auricular acupuncture points and techniques.
EA can help effectively, when dealing with acute episodes and treating chronic illnesses due to or relating to stress.
We distinguish three phases of reaction after an acute stress creating stimulus.
1.A vigilance phase with acute, non specific, reaction of counterattack or escape and a predominance of sympathetic ANS participation.
2.A resistance phase with organization of chronic reaction and chronic overproduction of glucocorticoids, creation of damages, ba-lancing between sympathetic and parasympa-thetic systems.
3.A declining phase, with remaining chronic symptoms , bodily or psychic, and predo-minance of parasympathetic nervous system.
We often use the three omega for stress (Omega 0 psychic, Omega 1 visceral and Omega 2 corporal), or the addiction trinity
(Bocsh, Jerome, Crave). They can be stimulated with PSD 2Hz or laser, followed by hemi-permanent stimulation with NP.
In proportion to the symptoms (pain, duration, location, muscle spasm, psychic participation), we also use strong functional points as Shenmen, Antidepresant, Jangiao, Sensorial, ANS point and other.
They act on several stress forms, f. ex. examination stress, loss of intimates, trips, dentist, drug purgation e.c.t.
Treatment is successful in chronic illnesses, relating to stress as: migraine, insomnia, allergy, neuralgia, fibromyalgia, nervous cyst, menopause, nervous feet syndrome e.c.t.

Stress has many faces, and it also has different meanings in various fields of science. It is considered a matter of the mind, the place where perception of ‘disturbance of homeostasis’ is born, leading to activation of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical axis and sympathetic nerves.
Although certain types of mild stress may have beneficial effects on the organism, the chronic stress causes premature aging and pathogenesis of many age-related disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, depression, etc. Nowadays anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric illnesses and lead to severe functional impairment and distress. Anxiety disorders include disorders that share features of excessive fear and anxiety and related behavioral disturbances.
This presentation describes the distinction between fear and stress and the main elements of anxiety disorders.

Burnout syndrome is described as a stress type that affects thousands of professionals in the field of health services. 15 – 20 % of the people are at risk to develop post – traumatic stress syndrome (PTSS) after a strong, traumatic event. Medical professionals that deal with that kind of patients often develop burnout syndrome.
This presentation describes the role of the auricular acupuncture in the management of post traumatic stress syndrome and burnout syndrome as a complementary or isolate treatment for patients and medical professionals.
Introduction
Ear acupuncture has been used as treatment for various pain symptoms. Pregnancy related low back pain could be debilitating for pregnant women but there is lack of effective treatment. Owing to the unique circulation system between mother and fetus, prenatal care providers and gravid are reluctant either to prescribe nor to accept the pharmacological intervention or intensive physiotherapy.
Aim
The goal of the clinical investigations is to determine whether ear acupuncture can be used as treatment for this special clinical entity.
Method
During the period of a year (7/2013-7/2014) , 12 pregnand women between 30 to 42 years old at the 3rd semester of their pregnancy (5 fist child, 6 second child and 1 3rd child) came to my practice for acute low back pain (average no8 oral pain scale). Detailed medical history was completed and fully medical examination was performed. 4 pregnand women experienced this kind of pain for the first time of their life where the other 8 hadn’t. ( 4 had sliped disk, 2 had spondylolisis and other 2 spondylolisis with 1st degree of spondylolisthesis). Diagnosis was conducted with ear observation, electrical detection and palpation while ear selection was based on the body pain (at the same ear of the same side of the body pain or at the same side of the dominant side of the both sides pain). Auricular Acupuncture protocol was given based on Dr. G.Bazzoni's model.
Stimuli must be given 4 times per day, and telephone communication after 3 days. The evaluation of the treatment would be with subjective oral pain scale (fron 1 to 10).
Results
4 pregnand women felt 40% less pain than the initial pain where the other women felt between 10% to 30% less pain from the initial pain. (after 3 days) From the first 4 women was asked to repeat the session in the practice in a week (from the first session) while the rest of the women was asked to repeat the session the next day, since they remove the needles from their ears and leave them without any stimuli for 24 hours.. The 4 women (3 of them experienced this kind of pain for the first time of their life) needed 3 sessions in a period of 20 days in order to heel their pain instead of the others , where 5 sessions were required.
Conclusion
What if the sample is small, we could coclude the effectiveness of this method to this clinical entity during pregnancy especially for the simplicity ( small number of sessions, less tireness ) and the compliance of the patient.
However it seems that it might required more often treatments at practice (not one in ten days) evidence that cannot clarified the responsibility of the pregnancy, the previous medical condition or the type of patient.

Basic research and clinical in Acupuncture is fundamental both to explain the mechanisms of action and to determine the effectiveness and limitations of this ancient therapeutic method.
After 1997, the year of the Consensus Conference on Acupuncture organized by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, 3-5 November 1997), clinical research in acupuncture, which was already begun in the 60s and 70s of the last century, has experienced a strong acceleration and a gradual improvement in the methodological quality.
However, important issues remain open, which represent a challenge for the coming years.
The purpose of the presentation is the careful examination of the major problems related in acupuncture research: the problem of the control group and sham acupuncture, the quality of the RTC, the efficiency of systematic reviews in acupuncture, the quality of the acupuncturists’ training and their updating . For each topic will be discussed potential solutions and ideas for shared strategies.

Title: Diagnostics, Therapy and Follow-up of Thyroid Function Deviaton with MeriDiM® Meridian Diagnostic Device and Ear Acupuncture
Background:
Over the past 20 years we have successfully implemented auriculo-therapy in our clinical practice with special regard to thyroid function disorders. In the next example previously conventional therapies (drugs) were applied for a year without any results – lab results deteriorated, and the patient was scheduled for thyroid isotope therapy and thyroid operation.
Aim
Our goal is to shed light onto the possibility of using proper meridian diagnostics and auriculo-therapy as an alternative or complementary method.
Methods
After western-style diagnostics (including a blood-test) we worked by our electronic Meridian diagnostic device (MeriDiM). The healing points (offered by the device) were first treated by softlaser, then we applied press needles to specific points to control thyroid overwork. The case and its follow-up have been documented for 3 year.
Results
A week after the first treatment hormone T4 lowered from 24,73 to 18,67 (normal range) and T3 decreased from 8,95 to 7,92 pmol/l. Treatment was done in every second week; after 80 days another lab test revealed that both hormones were within the normal range (T4: 17,18 pmol/l
Summary /Conclusions
Our study is to document a case with combined diagnostics (laboratory tests and Meridian dignostics) which show well that thyroid malfuctions can be treated well by auriculo-therapy. That can mean an alternative methods to conventional medication and /or operation.

Title: Proving of the prolactin reducing effect of the auriculotherapy through laboratory validation and MeriDiM® meridian diagnostics – an innovative-pilot research (randomised, double-blind, controlled)
Background:
Although the 5-point acudetox protocol was put together for the treatment of those with addictions, it has always been assumed that the healing capacities of the method go far beyond that.
Aim
The aim of the research is to objectively investigate whether the 5 point acudetox ear acupuncture has immediate stress (prolactin)-reducing effect and, if yes, whether it is more significant than social support and informal supportive conversation. The therapists and the clients alike stated that they experienced a considerable reduction of stress over the treatment period.
Methods
Double blind randomized control trial. Data were analysed by non-parametric t-test, t-test and Wilcoxon test (using SPSS 15.0 software). The level of significance for the analysed values is p<0.05.
Results
In the experimental group a significant decrease of prolactin-level and skin conductivity could be certified after the treatment of auricular acupuncture of 5 points compared to the condition before treatment (prolactin: p=0,026; skin conductivity p=0,0008). In the control group in which no person got 5 points auricular acupuncture treatment, no significant change was certifiable neither in the prolactin level, nor in skin conductivity between the two points of measuring (prolactin: p=0,35, skin-conductivity p=0,21).
Summary /Conclusions
In our research, the measurements of the Western, just as well those of the traditional Chinese medicine have proven in an integrative, significant way, that the stress level can be reduced immediately. Thus the 5 points in auricular acupuncture can mean a quick and a great deal of help in crisis intervention (individual crisis, mass accidents, catastrophes), prevention of the damages of long-term stress, in treating chemical addictions and in ceasing PTSD: it is capable of representing the healer’s and the patient’s mutual interest while serving health preservation and healing processes.

Introduction:
Auricular Diagnosis (A.D) is a method which is based on the hypothesis that disorders of the internal organs or of any other parts of the body can be found on the auricle. It is a non-invasive method that provides access to information that addresses to the whole body and it is objective, painless and rapid.
Aim:
The aim of this study is to determine the efficacy of auricular diagnosis in the detection of musculoskeletal and internal organs disorders in non symptomatic patients.
Methods:
Auricular diagnosis was applied to 12 participants. Diagnosis was conducted with observation, electrical detection and palpation. When a disorder was recognized in the auricular area, classical medical examination methods were used for its confirmation.
Those methods included MRI, ultrasound, blood test and all the indicated tests that are used for diagnosis and medical evaluation of each case. The study has conducted in private research basis during 2011- 2012.
Results:
SPSS was used for the statistical analysis. The concordance between the auricular diagnoses and the medical diagnosis was 91,6%.
Conclusion:
Auricular Diagnosis has a high level of efficacy and in combination with classical medical examination methods can identify musculoskeletal and internal organ disorders. Auricular diagnosis could be a complementary approach which is simple, effective, and inexpensive for identifying these conditions on a screening test basis and may also be important in a prevention level.

Introduction:
Auricular acupuncture is a technique commonly used in the treatment of substance withdrawal including alcohol.
Aim: The aim of this study is to determine if the treatment of Alcohol addiction with Auricular Acupuncture protocol in combination with a nutrition protocol based on the blood type is effective. Also to determine nutrition’s contribution to the treatment's efficiency.
Methods:
Auricular acupuncture was applied to 7 participants. All the participants were men, heavy drinkers consuming >7 drinks per day. Auricular Acupuncture protocol was given based on Dr. G.Bazzoni's model. Patients were treated on a private research basis, during 2013- 2014. The duration of the alcohol consumption was >5 years. To each individual therapy was given every 10-15 days and the duration of the treatment was 7-9 sessions. A nutrition protocol was also given related to participant’s blood type and to Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Results:
Findings estimated from a number of drinking days and level of craving questionnaire, using the t-test. SPSS was used for the statistical analysis. Effectiveness of treatment had shown statistically significantly important benefits of acupuncture protocols in both variables (p<0.05) and 85,7% of the participants stopped alcohol consumption for at least one month. Follow up at three and six months revealed that positive results were statistically significantly correlated with nutrition compliance (p<0.01).
Conclusion:
Auricular Acupuncture protocols along with nutrition guidance, may achieve statistically significantly important benefits in heavy drinkers. As it is a pilot study, further investigation is needed, to acquire safe conclusions.
Introduction:
Trigeminal neuralgia is a neuropathic pain syndrome and one of the most common causes of facial pain, typically affecting patients older than 50 years. The disorder can be described as a chronic, debilitating condition resulting in intense and extreme episodes of pain in the face. Auricular Acupuncture treatment has been helpful and effective in treating trigeminal neuralgia based on several studies.
Aim:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of an Auricular Acupuncture (A.A.) protocol for trigeminal neuralgia (T.N.).
Methods:
Auricular acupuncture was applied to 3 patients. A.A. protocol was given based on Dr. G.Bazzoni's model. Patients were treated at P.M.R. department of G.Gennimatas Hospital and others on private research basis, during 2013- 2014. The duration of the symptoms was >6 months. Therapy was given every 10-15 days and the duration of the treatment was 10 – 12 sessions.
Results:
Findings estimated from a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), using the t-test. SPSS was used for the statistical analysis. Effectiveness of treatment had shown statistically significantly important benefits of acupuncture protocols in diminishing pain in those patients (p<0.05).
Conclusion:
Auricular Acupuncture protocols can reduce pain and produce a statistically significant improvement effect in patients suffering from T.N. All participants also reported that their functional condition and their everyday life were much improved after the A.A. treatment.
A sensory neuron has its cell body in the dorsal root ganglion. One end of the neuron travels out to the periphery through the peripheral nerve (dorsal and ventral ramus), while the other end travels into the spinal cord through the dorsal root. Inside the spinal cord, sensory neurons carrying pain signals (nociceptors) typically have a synapse just past the dorsal root entry zone where they pass their electrical signal on to another neuron. Other sensory neurons may continue up to the base of the brain before arriving at their first synapse. Motor neuron cell bodies are in the ventral horn of the spinal cord. The axons of these neurons travel outward through the ventral root.
Various degrees of efficacy of conventional radiofrequency (RF) treatments with high, neurodestructive temperatures using continuous high-frequency electric current (CRF) have been reported in the treatment of neuraxial spine disorders. Marked temperature elevations around the electrode presumably interrupt pain transmission by coagulation of nervous tissue. However, it has been strongly suggested that thermocoagulation is not the mechanism involved in pain relief, as it has been noted that the duration of pain relief far outlasted the length of denervation when CRF was used on dorsal root ganglia (DRG). This finding led to the hypothesis that the electromagnetic field developed by the RF current might account for the beneficial clinical effect. If, in fact, the heat generated with CRF treatments is not therapeutic, it then represents an undesirable, potentially neurodestructive incidental consequence. Thus, an alternative delivery of RF current that maintains tissue temperature below that causing tissue destruction (43°C), pulsed radiofrequency (PRF), was developed. The delivery of current using intermittent pulses creates a satisfactory electromagnetic field while, at the same time, allows the friction-generated heat to be dissipated between the pulsed current deliveries.
Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is an available pain treatment modality that, despite a lack of solid evidence, continues to be used among providers. Clinical applications of PRF are increasing and include the treatment of cervical and lumbar facet joint pain, cervical and lumbar radicular pain, sacroiliac joint pain, trigeminal and other neuralgias, myofascial pain, and intra-articular pain.
Dorsal root ganglion pulsed radiofrequency neuromodulation is used for the treatment of spinal radicular pain, radiculopathy and regional neuropathic pain syndromes with limited segmental distribution. PRF treatment is not indicated if pain is centralised, if there is relevant pathology inside the spinal cord or if there is serious psychopathology.
Pulsed radio frequency is a relatively new technique and is less destructive than conventional radiofrequency. Safety and effectiveness of pulse radio frequency in neuropathic pain has been demonstrated in animal and humans studies. Although its effects on dorsal root ganglion have been studied in animals there is only one randomized control trial in literature demonstrating its effectiveness in cervical radicular pain and none in lumbar radicular pain. Cahana and colleagues performed an extensive literature search on the topic of pulsed RF. They found 58 reports on the clinical use of the procedure noting mixed results. This is the most comprehensive review of the literature to date on the topic of pulsed RF and is recommended as a good review of the current literature.

BACKGROUND-OBJECTIVE:
Auricular acupuncture (AA) is suggested to be effective in treatment of postoperative pain.We examined whether auricular acupressure (AA) can alleviate postoperative pain and decrease analgesic consumption and its adverse effects for osteoarthritis patients after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
SUBJECT-METHODS:
Twenty patients with degenerative osteoarthritis undergoing TKA.The AA group received true AA by embedding vaccaria seeds at four specific AA points (knee joint, shenmen, subcortex, sympathesis) ipsilateral to the surgery site, while the control group received four nonacupuncture points on the auricular helix. All patients received this intervention under general anesthesia.Visual analog scale (VAS), the consumption of analgesic and the incidence of analgesia-related adverse effects were recorded.
RESULTS:
VAS scores were similar at 12, 24, 36, and 48 h postsurgery (P > 0.05), but AA group scores were lower than those of the control group at 3, 4, 5, and 7 days (P
CONCLUSIONS:
Applying auricular acupoint acupressure in the perioperative period of TKA is favorable for alleviating postoperative pain, decreasing opioid consumption and its adverse effects and promoting early rehabilitation. Also, this intervention has the advantage of lower costs, fewer complications, simple application and high safety.

OBJECTIVES:
Free radicals and lipid peroxides, both of which are easily formed in the postoperative period, play an important role in the development of postoperative complications. Antioxidative therapy may help prevent postoperative complications caused by lipoperoxidation and free-radical formation in oxidative trauma (OT). A number of findings suggest, that oxidative stress exists in patients in perioperative period. Auricular acupuncture has reportedly been an effective treatment method for a variety of medical conditions, including anxiety and pain. However, its effects on antioxidative enzymes have not been elucidated. We therefore evaluated the impact of auricular acupuncture on antioxidative status in perioperative period.
METHODS:
Our study involved 18 patients in perioperative period, who were allocated either to undergo acupuncture as active treatment for the experimental group or to a control group. The experimental group in the study received auricular acupuncture one time preoperatively, one time perioperatively and one time postoperatively. The patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy were enrolled in this study and received general anesthesia with sevoflurane. The control groups did not undergo auricular acupuncture. At the end of preoperative, perioperative and postoperative periods of treatment of the experimental group, blood was collected from all of the study participants for assay of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase concentrations, as was also done for the control group, by ELISA.
RESULTS:
As statistical method was used STATISTICA 8.0. Serum concentrations of SOD (p < 0.05) and catalase (p < 0.0001) were significantly higher in the experimental group, than in the control group. There were no statistical differences between periods.
CONCLUSIONS:
Our findings suggest, that auricular acupuncture can increase the concentration of antioxidative enzymes in patients in perioperative period.

Cessation smoking status: my case
The tobacco was introduced to Europe from America after 1492 suffered the most diverse values that have characterized an alternate cultural and medical attitude. From a phyto-pharmacologies use to a ritual attitude with the search of individual or collective satisfaction, to a present attitude of criminalisation. Therefore the smoke of cigarette lends itself to some reflections on both the psychodynamics behavioural and across frankly pathological being an etiological agent of several diseases.
The somatic acupuncture and auricular therapy, expression of a psycho-body approach, have a specific space on this issue which is a knight between soma and psyche.

TRANSCUTANEOUS VAGUS NERVE STIMULATION (ta-VNS) FOR DRUG-RESISTANT EPILEPSY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF FEASIBILITY, SAFETY AND EFFICACY.
We systematically evaluated reports in which transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (ta-VNS) was used for drug-resistant epilepsy.
We carried out a systematic review and included 4 papers. Primary outcome measures were reduction in seizure frequency after 24 weeks of treatment compared with the baseline (3 studies) or improvements in electroencephalograph (EEG) after 9 months of treatment (one study). Secondary outcomes were side effects and feasibility of the ta-VNS.
Average seizure reduction varies from 47.7% to 54.2%. Four out of seven patients showed improvements at EEG recording. Adverse events were modest. Seven patients (3.2%) dropped out.
ta-VNS may be an effective treatment for drug-resistant epilepsy reducing the frequency of seizures. ta-VNS seems to be safe, well tolerated, and widely practicable for long-term treatment. Our results have to be taken with due caution on account of the limitations of the original studies included in this systematic review.

«How auricular points recording can be influenced by operator’s experience against the method used?»
Material and method:
This research tests the ability to record on two different auricular diagrams , a group of auricular acupuncture students.
Initially an auricular picture with some points in evidence is introduced to them; in a second moment they had to represent these points on two different diagrams. A classic blank diagram and a sector diagram as in Romoli’s mode.
This was done in the beginning (beginner) of an auricular course and repeated six months later, when the students could be defined as “experts”.
Results:
During the presentation is going to be shown the difference between the two recording methods at the level of “beginner”, “expert” or any more.
«Shoulder pain: frequency of auricular points recording on modified sector diagram areas when compared with classical semeiotical findings.»
Material and method:
We studied a group of patients with shoulder pain. They were examined through specific semeiotical procedures and a diagnosis of presumption is done. In particular, we tried to select impingement syndromes from muscular injury.
After an auricular baroestesic diagnosis was done and the points drawn on an appropriate sector diagram.
Results:
The results will display if there is a prevalent point localization in different sectors between impingement syndromes and muscular injury.

AURICULAR ACUPUNTURE THERAPY CONTRIBUTION TO POSTURAL DISORDERS. AN EXEPERIMENTAL STUDY, RANDOMIZED AND CONTROLLED TRIAL.
A. Lovato*, N. Lovato, M. Parmagnani, F. Ceccherelli*, G. Gagliardi*.
* A.I.R.A.S. (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca e l’Aggiornamento Scientifico) Padova, Italy.
Introduction: There are a lot of treatments about peripheral receptors of postural system 1-2 but exist few studies and treatments which allow to modulate the “central computer” of the system itself3-4. There are three interpretative models about posture: Psychosomatic5; Biomechanical6; Neurophysiological7. Already in 2002 it proved how neuromodulator of auricle brings to a modification of the cerebral fRMN8.
Aims: to establish experimentally if stimulation of specific points of auricle, compared with non-specific points (Sham), are able to modify posture significantly.
Metods: 44 patients, 20 male e 24 female aged between 17 and 69 years, were equally divided in 2 groups. All the patients were subjected to a postural evaluation through platform posturo-stabilometric: they were subjected a treatment of auricular therapy and immediately repeated the evaluation. This protocol was accomplished three times and spacing by three weeks. About stabilometric exam we have considered those parameters: stabilometric area, asymmetry of rotation and the load percentage of the right foot. We executed the follow up after three months with the only evaluation posturo-stabilometric. We stimulated the points of auricular using Cryoalfa-Lux.
Results: Stabilometric areaFig1: the true acupuncture group start with a +10,71% respect the ideal one in the first session and it will go to reduce at -2,75% at the third. It loses its effectiveness and then in the follow up it reappears a deviation of -11%. The sham acupuncture starts very close to the ideal area with a deviation of +1,92%, much worse in the third session + 37,55% and finish the follow up at -14,72%.
Asymmetry of rotation: the true acupuncture group starts with a deviation respect the ideal of -2,367% and finish in the follow up with an improvement of -0,96%. The sham group starts with a -4,141 and maintain his deviation throughout all the treatmentsFig2.
Load of right foot: the true acupuncture group before have a deviation of +1,77% that change to +0,456% and +0,838% in the third session and in the follow up. The sham acupuncture group starts with a deviation of 4,6% and reduce to -1,38% and -0,374% in the third session and during the follow upFig3.
Conclusions: We can conclude that neuromodulator of auricular is an important tool to improve the posture.
This treatment should be framed in a treatment where are taken in consideration all the aspects, also relations, biomechanical and psych emotive.
They are undoubtedly desirable new studies, with adequate numbers for statistical purposes.

Clinical experiences in analgesic therapy according to a new diagnostic-therapeutic model of auricular neuromodulation.
Auriculotherapy or Ear Acupuncture is a form of acupuncture that uses the outer ear for diagnostic and therapeutic.
Founding principle of this discipline is that in the ear (microsystem) are rappresented structures and functions of the body (auricular map), in a two-way relationship diagnosis and treatment.
The formulation of the analgesic therapy in the treatment protocol involves the use of two classes of ear acupuncture points, functional points and neurological reflexes points. The first ones have general action (analgesic, anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory ...) and they should be included in a clinical criterion-related therapeutic effect to be achieved. The neuro reflex points are chosen in an original model, proposed by our school, which is based on the assumption that the representation of pain in the outer ear is related to its etiology. The auricular diagnosis, palpation and measurement electrical skin resistance, also allows to distinguish between primary and secondary pain (referred and reflected). This model allows to practice auricular acupuncture regardless rigid adherence to the maps of most accredited schools: French and Chinese, improving the effectiveness of terapy. To validate this model were enrolled 180 patients with acute pain (less than 15 days ), divided into three groups. All patients received auricular stimulation with the insertion of a single needle semipermanent, positioned ipsilateral to the site of pain. In patients of group A point on which to place the semipermanent needle was identified as the most sensitive to palpation (pressure pain test) present in the scaphoid fossa. In patients of group B, the point where place the needle was identified according to anamnestic criterion (place where the pain is felt more intensely). To locate the outer ear, ipsilateral to the site of pain, the points on which to apply the stimulation with the semipermanent needle was used to "Auricular Sectogram”. In patients of group C the semipermanent needle was placed on a spot on the lobe ipsilateral to the site of pain. The pattern of pain was assessed using the VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) This scale was administered 5 minutes before "Pressure Pain Test" (T0) and at time T1 (1 h after stimulation headset), T2 (12 hours after stimulation ear) T3 (24 h after stimulation ear) Patients were divided into responders (PR), patients who achieved a reduction in pain intensity (in one of 3 readings T1, T2, T3) is equal to or greater than 50%, partially responders (PPR), patients who have experienced a reduction of pain between 50% and 25%, non-responders (PNR patients with pain reduction less than 25%. For the comparison between groups in treatment was performed one-way analysis of variance for quantitative variables and analysis of variance by ranks one-way Kruskal-Wallis -for ordinal variables. In conservatively, the pain, although the measured scale Numeric (SEA), was treated as ordinal variable. To compare the difference in pain to the different times, within each treatment, has been applied the test of the sign for paired data and Wilcoxon. The independence between qualitative variables was tested by chi-square. For the level of statistical significance was chosen error
first type of 5%. The analyzes were carried out with STATA 11.0.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The data obtained indicate that the pain appears to decrease at different times in all groups. Moreover, these declines appear to depend as intensity variation from the group where patients were assigned, with the maximum reduction significantly more frequent among patients treated with the Pressure Pain test, followed by the system based on the maps and finally from that based on random positioning.

Experiences in management of emotional eating with a new method of auricular acupuncture.
All the guide-lines about the treatment of the excess of weight, published up to now, agree in asserting that a correct approach to this pathology cannot leave aside a reduction of the calories takings and an increasing of the physical activity. Both these aims are difficult to reach, and it is even more difficult modifying in a definite way the patient's behaviour in relation to both feeding and sedentariety. The majority of authors agree in believing that in case an ipocaloric diet is prescribed, it is anyway fundamental to associate such a prescription with other therapeutic strategies (eating education, physical activity, elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, pharmacological treatment) which increase its effectiveness.
Our study group has developed the DIMANAT® method which contemplates the use of
auricular micro-system stimulation in the treatment of obesity.
A remarkable support in setting up the method, has been provided by the studies on animals
which have looked into underlying neurobiological mechanisms, particularly the action on
hunger sensation and satiety.
Auricular Acupuncture and integrated treatment of obese patients
The data obtained from an ultra-decennial clinical experience on more than 1300 patients
treated with auricular acupuncture, allow to assert that there is clear evidence that this
therapy can increase the compliance to the dietetic restriction in different stages of the
combined diet-therapic behavioural treatment and physical activity. Extremely positive results
in terms of keeping the loss of weight obtained for some time (>2 years), let foresee that the
auricular therapy may have induced the regulation system of the body weight to move to a
lower level of weight and energy.
Auricular acupuncture can be used with different purposes, in accordance with the kind or of
the different treatment steps and with the presence or not of troubles in eating behaviour.
Auricular stimulation on eating behaviour leads to:
1) Remodulation of hunger and satiety sensation
2) Operation on psychological and psycho-pathological aspects of eating behaviour by:
a) Optimization of the response to stress
b) Psycho-regulation action
It follows:
• Action of protection from the Psychological Effects of the Dietetic Restriction (anxiety,
anger/aggressiveness, altered control of impulses).
• Action on emotional eating.
• Action on Binge Eating symptoms and Craving episodes.
Auricular points are stimulated by little magnetic spheres, vaccaria seeds or semi-permanent
needles let in situ for a period of time from 7 to 15 days.
The choice of the points is leaded by an algorhythm which is based on a weekly collecting
corporeal weight and on the results provided by an original daily evaluation, filled by the
patient, which integrates the food-taking evaluation (food diary) with the evaluation of satiety
felt at different day moments. (by a Visual Analogue Scale - VAS).
Evermore in the same card the psycho-emotional condition is collected (Anxiety, Depression
and Agressiveness/Anger) along with the incidental presence of Craving episodes and Binge
Eating symptoms. For the psychometric evaluation of the eating behaviour of the obese patient , BES (Binge Eating Scale) Italian version has been employed. All these procedures allow us to lead patients to a easier way to lose weight and mostly in manteining this result over the time, as demonstrated in our results.

AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE IN MALE INFERTILITY : clinical experience
Major difficulties exist in the accurate and meaningful diagnosis of male reproductive dysfunction, and our understanding of the epidemiology and etiology of male infertility has proven quite complex and therapeutic options are very limited.
Men with fertility problems do not willingly submit to the examinations and therapies.
Also somatic acupuncture is frequently rejected.
We have collected over the years our experience in the treatment of male infertility with auricular acupuncture. auricular acupuncture is less invasive and therefore well accepted all.
We researched the auricular points of the map French and Chinese, and hot spots treated with weekly sessions ( 6-12 ). In our opinion the results are encouraging and it would be appropriate to do a thorough scientific research.

1. Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) has been partially implemented with conventional therapies for almost a century since the National Cancer Institute of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) has scientifically been monitoring such practices in order to evaluate their effectiveness, safety and use. Decisions on how a cancer patient should cope with his/her disease through CAM approaches are serious and important thus those engaged in integrative medicine should inform the public on health issues through sound scientific data. Rigorous scientific research and medical practices should be the basis in order to consider their roles in improving health. As a result we will be able to help decision-making by the public, the health care professionals, and most importantly health policymakers regarding their integration.
2. We have observed that Auricular Acupncture, orthomolecular nutrition and pH play a key role in reversing and controlling cancer. We are convinced that any therapeutic approach with auricular acunpuncture and non-toxic alkaline phytochemicals will be more effective If one were to examine modern-day approaches toward cancer cures. Research in medicine and science is primarily controlled by patentable drugs that only target cancer cells while exposing the body to secondary pathological causes. However, the efficacy of these drugs is in question especially in advanced stage cancers.
3. Non-toxic practices in combination with natural alkaline dietary protocols that show great promise for all cancers and chronic diseases could only rejuvenate the patients clinical appearance.
It has been observed that toxemia interferes with neurotramsmitters that could not augment integrative approaches against cancer and therefore should become a priority in any CAM.
4. Our objective is to advance the science and practice of Auricular Acunpucture in combination with the Actouarios protocol, a dietary-herbal cancer protocol proposed by the kotsanis institute, in order to develop effective, practical, personalized strategies for promoting health and well-being.
Moreover we hope that such a practice will enable better evidence-based decision making regarding Acupuncture and its integration into cancer care.

Electrical stimulation (ES) is an effective method for accelerating wound-healing. ES was traditionally conducting current through pads in contact with the body, restarting the wound-healing process by mimicking the “current of injury”. The method was not adopted widely because of disadvantages related with the vicinity of the electrodes with the tissues next to the wound. We here present results by using an innovative device, based on the method of Wireless Micro Current Stimulation (WMCS), for rapid and effective wound healing. In this device, charged air gases are used to create/maintain the current to the wound, without any contact with the tissue. We have assessed the device in a number of cases and we are going to present some complicated treatments. All cases were treated only with WMCS apparatus, using 1.5 microAmpere daily or every other day and standard wound care. Biochemical assays have illustrated abundance of thick collagen fibers and focal increase of mast cells. The rapid progress of wound healing in the above cases using WMCS seems very promising and the method indeed very effective.

The explanation of the mechanism of action of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is surrounded with explanation that from a scientific point of view does not make any sense.
It is strange since the handed over explanations of concepts of Tao, Qi, Yin and Yang is right.
Those trying to interpretate the handed over explanations do it without adequate knowledge or maybe none at all in atmospheric physics and electro physics.
By reviewing the handed over explanations and compare them with the atmospheric physical phenomena that may not be as well known to everyone but well known to physicists, John F. Wetling gives an explanation that brings the "mysterious" acupuncture to a full scientific understanding and he shows how it has then been possible to bring a technology based on his physical knowledge and interest i acupuncture to one in front medical technology in wound and burns healing.
After his training in the practice of acupuncture John F. Wetling developed his theories of acupuncture mechanism of action and the knowledge later became the basis for the development of a medical technology in wounds and burns healing known as Wireless Micro Current Stimulation WMCS.
WMCS technology is now medically approved under the EU directive for medical devices in Class 2a.
The WMCS method is under continuously development. The latest work shows that the WMCS method has some quite surprising effects on our body's functioning, discoveries that will have a hightly significant result on our immune system. The first work on this has been published and new is under editing and expected to be published in the fall of 2014.
The auricular acupuncture (AA) is an effective tool for diagnosis and therapy and it can be associated with other techniques. For example, many AA-therapists also prescribe herbal medicines and many physicians working in a team with other health workers, have positive experiences of concomitant use of other reflexologies, particularly of the foot.
So it is important for integration, that there would be a common theory aiding the working groups of various therapists or the job of the doctors who use different techniques.
The theories of T & CM (Traditional & Complementary Medicine) are different, sometimes conflicting in some interpretations, and therefore it is useful to have a theory that should offer at least a common language (and not necessary an holistic view). Moreover this theory is simple and based on real evidences.
This theory may be the Bio Ecological Medicine (BEM), who considers the man as a complex organism, so subject to the well-known laws of complexity. Among the seven principles of complexity, inter alia, the third is the hologramatic one, familiar to those who apply the AA. The rules of complexity are simple: a) a complex body has structures and functions; b) in more complex systems the structures form hierarchical "vertical" levels (emergent structures, such as the cells that form the tissues, that form the organs) and sometimes different specializations within levels (e.g., the various organs and apparatus); c) the emerging functions of complex systems are three (input and output of matter and energy; transformations; feedbacks).
These are incontrovertible scientific observations, that simply and rationally lead to the proper integration of the various techniques, including the AA. So the search for pathological auricular points can be made in this logical sequence: search for possible pathology of the bony structures; of the excretory organs, metabolic organs, and at last the functional points. In fact this is a simple and useful scheme for a new and modern therapeutic plan.
In conclusion, the AA can take advantage of the BEM, as the BEM may favorably welcome inside itself the AA.

Dr Marco Romoli graduated cum laude in Medicine at Florence University in 1973, afterwards cultivating his interest in acupuncture which he studied in Japan, China, France and Austria, also acquiring complementary techniques. He currently lectures in several countries and teaches at the Center for Integrative Medicine of Florence University. For the last 30 years he has been conducting pioneering research and has published several articles and two books on auricular diagnosis and therapy. Dr Romoli has constantly tried to interpret and combine data offered by the different schools of auriculotherapy. He is convinced that auriculotherapy, discovered by Paul Nogier and officially presented in the literature in 1957, has become more and more a “World Heritage”.
In this perspective, he believes that everywhere in the world applied investigation strategy, diagnostic method, nomenclature of the auricular points etc. should be accepted for a better comprehension of the neurophysiological mechanisms and an exhaustive clinical identification of the diagnostic and therapeutic potentialities of auriculotherapy. He acknowledges that there is of course still a lot of work to be done in this area but his hope is that this congress will offer the opportunity for much contact between teachers and researchers from different countries for the exchange of ideas and for promoting evidence-based and patient-linked clinical research.
The integrated medicine in the 3rd millennium requires a new paradigm to enable a global alliance between ancient knowledge and modern evidence.
The wealth of art therapy is to enable the various medicines to talk and help each other, to take a leap forward with the semiotics integrated to best use philosophy, empathy, PNEI and allopathic medicine with the aim of putting the man at the center of each practice based on the prevention and restoration of harmony.
We discuss in this report the common principles, the different and complementary medical practices of this new paradigm realized with the development of the Hospital of Integrated Medicine in Pitigliano (Italy).

In keeping with the old and wise tradition where all is one, have developed new therapeutic techniques that are grouped under the name of microsystems.
The latest research in mathematics and physics give a scientific basis to what appeared to be a reflex. The mathematics of fractals and quantum physics allows us to understand how man is a holographic system and how the change of a hologram results in the modification of all other holograms in the human body. Perhaps "the 'butterfly effect' is also present in the human body:" The slightest flutter of a butterfly's wings can cause a hurricane on the other side of the world. "

Eurythmia Philosophy is a Holistic Medical System, based in ancient roots on therapeutics at the Mediterranean Area. As such uses natural ingredients, and physical techniques as healing media like in Eastern Civilizations, though approximates more the temper and environment of individuals living in the West.
Sensorial Remodulation is a combined method based on inhalation therapy (a very old popular technique widely accepted in old civilizations as India, and Greece, for respiratory disturbances) with the power of aroma vibrations from natural organic agents. During Aroma/Espneotherapy we enhance the acceptance of information to the brain with ultrasound and microwaves resetting cranial nerves such as:

1. The authors of the article promote the theory, which explains a needle as a basic antenna. The antenna amplifies the flow of energy in form of various electromagnetic waves and redirects it to the acupuncture points.
2. The point itself is a complex cosmic converter of various energies into the common energy of Praana. This energy is transferred to different parts of human body. The energy ensures the vital function of each organ.
3. In medical practice, a frequent phenomenon is a “cancellation syndrome”, which is manifested by the return of pain after removing needles from the concha. This is the evidence of insufficient time for a needle to make an impact onto a point. The time for a needle to stay in place should be prolonged.
4. Taking into account a powerful energetic effect of the Moon onto the Earth, the length of a Moon month is used as an optimal period of a needle impact. The needle should experience all 4 phases of the Moon, which have different energetic effect. However, the healing process may require two or even three Moon months to get a proper effect. The needles, well attached by adhesive tape can easily stay this length of time.
5. In order to get positive effect in healing chronic and long-trailing diseases, a prolonged period of needle impact is required.

Cancer pain is a difficult problem for clinicians because analgesic drugs do not always procure complete relief.
After curative cancer treatment, pain often remains the dominant symptom affecting the patient’s physical and
psychological state. Chronic pain in cancer patients is dominated by the neuropathic component even when
associated with nociceptive pain.
Neuropathic pain is the most difficult type of pain to treat in cancer patients, and in general, does not respond
well to drug treatment. Acupuncture activates central brain pathways, thus inhibiting the maladaptive reflex that
contributes to neuropathic pain. Acupuncture, for treatment of chronic pain, has been evaluated in many trials. A
systematic review of these trials showed that three out of four of them were poor in quality, and the onclusion
was that there was inconclusive evidence that acupuncture was more effective than a placebo. Two Cochrane
reviews and a systematic review focusing on acupuncture for idiopathic headache, low back pain, and neck
pain respectively, reached the same conclusions.
For the last 30 years, auricular acupuncture has been used as complementary treatment of cancer pain when
analgesic drugs do not suffice; it is routinely used in our institution and we have decided, pragmatically, to
evaluate its efficacy.

Dear friends,
Our key priority is to satisfy all the needs of our participants in the best possible way.
In this newsletter, we would like to inform you, about an issue that has been raised by many participants from all over the world.
As you already know, we chose the specific Congress date and location, because we intended to give the opportunity to our participants to combine their participation in the Congress with their summer vacations, in one of the most amazing places in Greece and in a Resort of unique beauty.
Our main concern from the beginning was to keep the costs at the lowest possible level, in order to give to all interested parties the possibility to attend. However the severe economic recession, which is a global phenomenon, creates pressure to the potential participants.
For more info please contact us
During the last weeks, many people informed us that they struggle to cover the collateral costs which are arising from the trip and the accommodation.
Medical International Society of Auricular Neuromodulation (M.I.S.A.N.- G.S.A.T.N.), examined the specific issue during its recent administrative council which was held on May 17th, Saturday, and resulted in the following decision:
“We decide to transfer the Congress to the capital, Athens, in order to reduce the overall costs, on September 4-5-6 2014. On 3rd of September (Wednesday afternoon) we will have the opening ceremony. The 1st International Mediterranean Congress on Auricular Neuromodulation will take place in Divani Caravel Hotel. In few days our brand new web site will be ready with all the needed information.“
Sincerely,
Grazia Miscioscia
Organizer of MeCAN 2014

Dear colleagues and friends,
This year, from September 3rd to the 5th, we have the privilege to host in Messinia - Greece the First International Mediterranean Congress of Auricular Neuromodulation.
We consider this congress as a very special and unique event for scientific acupuncture. The presidents, the scientific committee and the organizing committee of the Congress are preparing for you an interesting and challenging program, full of clinical and research lectures and workshops. Our invited speakers come from all around the world, representing the very best in their field of expertise. In addition, there will be free presentations from colleagues in practice, education and research. The majority of our subjects will be focused on Modern, evidence-based and experience-based Auricular Acupuncture and Neuromodulation. Significant speakers from all over the world guarantee the highest scientific standards. It will be a pleasure for me to meet you in Greece and have the opportunity to exchange ideas and experience from research and daily clinical practice.
I would like to thank all National and International Boards of Scientific Associations, professors and experts, especially from Italy, who collaborated with us to organize and scientifically support this meeting.

"...we can use various methods of psycho-& behavioural therapy (individually or in groups), in the meaning of a “mind and body medicine”. As you see: acupuncture is just a small part of our possibilities!
We should consider our patients in their entire psycho-somatic- socio- Cosmo- genetic aspects. From a causal cascade of symptoms develops a vicious cycle – leading to pain chronification. We have to understand people as a micro cosmos (with all socio- psycho- neuro- endocrine- immunological entities – in the concept of the MAPS: micro-acupuncture – systems too) as a part of our macro cosmos, and so diagnose and treat him.
How can we imagine this vicious cycle? It starts with a simple kind of pain, and then builds up anxiety – despair –hopelessness – vegetative excitability – psychic misbalance - seclusion – loneliness – depression – sleeplessness – fatigue – and then pain again…and develops a chronificated, less treatable pain…
And the solution: that´ s our aim: we have to break this vicious cycle with our therapies!!!One of these therapies is our acupuncture."
Yours sincerely

The Chromotherapy has a broad field of application in anti-aging medicine. It use the emission of photons selected on precise wavelengths that stimulate fibroblasts and improve the fluidity of dermal water in which they are immersed the elastic fibers. In synergy it is possible to use Auriculotherapy with LED diodes to stimulate the production of various neurotransmitters and hormones that decline with age.

Few words from the representative (head) of the organizing team of the Congress
Dear Friends,
the 1st Auriculotherapy Conference which will be conducted this year in Greece, is among other things a personal vision and bet. I remember the words of Dr. Gianna Meconcelli (Chair of Medical International Society on Auricular Neuromodulation and GSATN, Italy):
"Grazia, from the first moment I met you- four years ago- you insisted on making an Auriculotherapy Conference that will bring together the world's attention ... So do it and try to give it your best!"
From that moment, I committed myself to give my best to accomplish this goal. It was a great honour and pleasure to award this organization. Along with my exceptional colleagues, we work with passion and enthusiasm on a demanding project.
The choice of Greece as the commencement place of the «1st Mediterranean Congress on Auricular Neuromodulation» was not random. We believe that we should honour the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates and his birthplace. It is well known that in addition to Diagnosis, Prognosis, Medical Ethics, Professional Secrecy, and the importance of nutrition in maintaining health at high levels, etc, Hippocrates used the ear flap for therapeutic purposes. Thus, this year's Conference is dedicated to this great man who founded the principles of the medical profession.

An exciting Welcome Event is going to occur, just before the official opening of the Congress. Among other things, there will be an open meeting where the participants will have the opportunity to socialize and exchange views.
The agenda will continue with world recognized Medical-Auricular Therapists -speakers that will present innovative methods of modern Auriculotherapy. But we will not stay only in theory. We will pay particular attention to the organization of workshops and under the supervision of Professors we will move from theory to practice!
To close the conference we have organized a farewell ceremony with the promise to meet again in the next country selection. The Conference will be held every two years in Mediterranean countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, France and Italy, where the Auriculotherapy built its history.
I believe that Greek doctors will welcome their foreign colleagues with the warm hospitality that distinguishes our country. Our goal is, these three days of the Conference (3, 4, 5 / 9/2014) to be engraved in the memory of the participants in such a way that the following day we all agree that it was a creative and memorable experience.
I would like to express my gratitude to our exquisite Medical Doctors and Physicians, for their support and all those who honour us with their participation. Finally I would like to thank all the Acupuncture companies in Greece and abroad that support the organization of the 1st Mediterranean Conference n Auriculotherapy.
Sincerely yours
Grazia Miscioscia

The Traditional Indian Medicine (TIM) has very interesting aspects of energy-lines. Therefore I tried some years ago to find correspondances to the 7 Indian Chakras and in my presentation of 2008 in the Nanjing University of TCM I could demonstrate, that the first 7 points of the new energy-meridian are in resonance to the 7 chakras of Indian medicine. In the last 5 years many more points - all together 33 - have proved very good energetic effects.
This new energy-meridian can be seen as an extra-ordinary vessel, because some of wellknown classic acupuncture-points are placed on it. All points start in the middle of the hand (at os metacarpale 3) with „positive“ Qi information and further on the middle finger with „negative“ Qi information (carcinoma points).
It is the first time since the publication „Zhen jiu Jiayi-jing“ of Huangfu Mi (215 - 282 a.Ch.), that a new meridian could be verified.

Dr. Frank Bahr, Germany, detected more than 14 major bio-frequencies and Chakra frequencies. He was a student of Dr. Nogier and is today the President of the largest German acupuncture society (DAA). The Bahr frequencies correspond to ear points, body acupuncture, three skin tissues layers, and the nervous system. The most important of his frequency discoveries are BAHR 1, BAHR 2 and the Chakra differentions. The frequencies are pre-programmed in the RJ laser devices and new frequencies will be added to the RJ therapy software.

The Congress will promote excellence in auricular neuromodulation and aim to bridge gaps between the basic research and its application in clinical practice.
